An international move is very different from a local move in many ways. As you can imagine, you are subject to the laws of both the country of shipment and the country of destination.
Depending on the country of destination, certain items are not allowed by law. A list of ineligible expenses has been established by the moving industry. This comprehensive list was put in place as a result of numerous incidents encountered by movers during an international move.
Hazardous materials
If your movers pack your belongings, they will be able to tell you what items are prohibited. Otherwise, here is a non-exhaustive list of hazardous materials.
Explosives: Propane, aerosols, ammunition, fire extinguishers, compressed air, fireworks, …
Flammable: Motor oil, gasoline, kerosene, matches, oil lamps, paints and solvents.
Corrosives: Acids, batteries, bleach, ammonia, chemicals, …
Perishable
Perishable goods are not allowed for a simple reason: an international move requires several weeks of transportation. They may rot and attract pests, and you wouldn’t want to imagine the smell that would create.
Illegal and illicit products

- To bring American Psycho or 50 Shades of Grey or even Alice in the Wonderland to countries like China, Australia, or Malaysia.
- Own any Pokemon-related item in Turkey.
